This dark, warm antique Mazandaran kilim has a powerful masculine aesthetic with mineralic veining and warm wood-grain patterns that have a dazzling effect.

Antique Persian Mazandaran Kilim, Origin: Persia, Circa: Early 20th Century – Glowing jasper and garnet hues create a luminous allover wood-grain pattern that gives this elegant antique Mazandaran kilim a regal yet winsome appearance that is absolutely ageless. The familiar three-panel triptych format showcases a low-contrast selection of oranges, cherry reds and dark mahogany tones that have an awesome visual effect. Narrow lines, broad stripes and subtle tonal variations produce a wonderfully real wood-grain effect like a giant koa panel from a lush tropical forest or an old-growth tree from the wooded hills of Mazandaran. The depth of color and range of related hues produces the rich chatoyancy associated with jasper and fine gems. Subtle variations in the patterns and colors provide an invaluable richness while staying true to the minimalist principles and simplistic aesthetic that these provincial kilims are known and revered for.
