Vintage Kilim by Ingegerd Silow, Sweden, Mid 20th Century –vintage carpet, but one that is ultimately refined in its own way. A background of coffee brown creates a foundation for the rest of the tones in this carpet to follow. Pyramids made up of three layers of rich dark brown blocks are spaced around the carpet’s edge, acting as the border and drawing the viewer’s eye inward, where steely gray shapes surround a lighter silver rectangle. The way the darker grays frame and meet with the central shape establishes an airy flow, resembling a collection of clouds as they pass over an earthy region.
