Antique Persian Malayer Runner Rug, Country of Origin: Perisa, Circa Date: 1900 -A blue-black color creates a clever pattern in negative space across the lengthy orange body of this antique Persian rug, accented with warm hues. The repeating design features bold diamonds and simple, stylized flowers, all linked with sharply angular lines. In a small band that surrounds the long central field, individual flowers complete with stems are aligned. The outermost border matches the inner, enclosing a warm cream stretch that features large and small blossoms in orange with darker stems. The flowers seem to float within the light space as if drifting on the wind, their buoyancy setting off the highly contrasted shapes of the main design of this antique rug.
