Antique East Turkestan Khotan Rug, Country of Origin: East Turkestan, Circa Date: Early 20th Century– This antique Khotan rug from East Turkestan displays a golden beige body with dark brown stitches creating a stark border. The center of the piece offers a faded, symmetrical design that presents as a subtle relief against the smooth hue of the background, straight lines that branch away and bear minute squares like fruit. The border is composed of three bands filled with floral forms, marked out with strong brown linework. This edging is faded across the bottom third of the area rug, matching the central patterning as if dipped into a cleansing pool that leaves only an echo across the fabric.
