With its soft blue-green ground, the highly abstract and relatively spare vine scroll border offers just the right contrast to the deeper tonality and lace-like complexity of the field. While the main medallions and borders the influence classic Chinese rug design, the richly ornamented field suggests the influence Persian carpets from further west.
