Vintage Silk Turkish Hereke Rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date:  Second Half of the 20th Century – Here is a beautiful vintage carpet – a silk Turkish Hereke carpet that was woven in Turkey during the second half of the twentieth century. Extraordinarily intricate from its borders through its field, this vintage Turkish carpet is a lively example of the Hereke style, boasting impressive drawing and a contemplative pallet. The borders, which are relatively large compared to the other proportions in this vintage rug, are especially complex, featuring incredibly detailed vine scroll elements, which blossom into impeccably drawn flowers. Large geometric tangelos red appear at regular intervals, infusing the borders with even deeper detail. The field is sumptuously rich as well, with an incredible volume of precisely crafted details swirling about an impressive central medallion. Throughout the field, elegant vine scrolls of soft blue, red, and green unwind in every direction, with the detail work being remarkably beautiful. The sophistication of this semi antique rug is as inescapable as its elegance, with each of these qualities being reinforced by the sheer quality of the weaving.
