Antique Persian Malayer Carpet, Persia, 1900 — The use of two primary colors throughout this antique rug allows its finer details to shine through. With such stark embroidery used to define the contrast between every line of motion, viewers are able to appreciate the fine craftsmanship. The curling shapes and forms within the largest border surrounding the piece are made all the more noticeable by the two smaller borders that surround. At the very center of this antique Persian carpet, the inky black background lets the sandy shapes stand out all the more, the total space broken up by the presence of the four large diamonds within.
