Gorgeous Floral Antique Persian Tabriz Allover Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1920
The ground is a deep forest green and almost none of it is left bare. Saffron palmettes the size of a hand repeat across the field, ringed by crimson rosettes, ivory leaves and small blue blossoms, all strung on a thin ivory vine. There is no medallion — the pattern runs edge to edge at one scale.
That is the allover habit: a repeating floral system instead of a single centre, and every stem in it curves. The border changes to a warm cream ground carrying indigo rosettes with crimson hearts, marigold surrounds and green leaves between, closed on both sides by narrow rose guard stripes.
At 9 ft 4 in by 12 ft it sits in the 9 x 12 size range, the usual footprint for a living room with the furniture standing on the rug. A larger or smaller version of this allover is available as a custom rug.
