My wife and I are so pleased with the antique Uzbek Bokhara Rug purchased from the Nazmiyal Collection. Not only does the rug have a spectacular design, it also was very reasonably priced. The way it transforms our living room, reconciling the classic modern furniture with the 1913 Craftsman interior is remarkable.

I have purchased multiple rugs at multiple Nazmiyal auctions and I am extremely pleased with the quality, price, and experience. Highly recommended!

The only ones I'd ever buy rugs from. The best.

I bought two gorgeous Serapi rugs from Farhad at Nazmiyal Rugs! Beautiful carpets, fair prices and great service. Very happy customer. Farhad (the sales person) was very patient and gave us great service.

I recently purchased a modern Kandinsky rug from Nazmiyal Auctions. It was just as described, and the director (Farhad) of the auctions had it sent to me quickly and safely. Payment was easy, the rug was reasonably priced, and I highly recommend Nazmiyal Auctions and Antique Rugs. Quality merchandise and first-class service.

Had a excellent experience buying a rug in Nazmiyal's 1/18/26 online auction. First, prior to the auction, viewing a number of lots at the 32nd St showroom (I had prepared a list from the online catalog). The staff were great to work with: helpful, knowledgable, honest, and flexible. Second, after placing an online bid and winning the desired item, arranging payment and pickup was simple and straightforward. Everything went seamlessly and the overall experience was educational and fun. Many thanks to Jason and his team.

Everyone at Naziyal is proffessional, especially Jason and Farhad. They are knowledgeable, truthful, and true gentlemen. I have sold several rugs through them and will always go to them first, to buy or sell. The best in the business!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are floral design area rugs?

Floral rugs (or city made carpets) are woven with curvilinear patterns often with central medallions and reflect a close affinity with nature. They are intricately woven with a fine knot count and a colorful harmonious palate. The famous city carpets of Persia, like this beautiful Kerman, are almost always woven with floral motifs, but these organic forms can also be found elsewhere in the world.

Why do so many area rugs feature floral design patterns?

Aesthetics: Floral patterns are often considered visually pleasing and add a touch of nature and beauty to a space. The intricate and diverse designs of flowers can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of a room.

Why do people shop specifically for area rugs with floral patterns?

People shop for area rugs with floral patterns due to a combination of aesthetic preferences, the desire to create a specific atmosphere in their homes, and the versatility and timelessness that floral designs offer in the realm of interior decor.

What are the more common floral designs that we see in rugs?

Here are some common floral designs that you may encounter in rugs:

Traditional Floral: Classic and timeless, traditional floral patterns often feature intricate arrangements of flowers and foliage. They may include roses, tulips, daisies, and other garden flowers.
Botanical Prints: These designs replicate the look of botanical illustrations, showcasing detailed and accurate depictions of various plant species. Botanical prints may include both flowers and leaves.

How to Decorate with Floral Rugs?

Just as flowers themselves represent new growth and a refreshing change after a cold winter, florals in your decor are the perfect way to refresh and change up your space. Floral rugs are the perfect way to do that, as they are not permanent, and can be easily switched out as the seasons change. They are the perfect design piece because you can either choose bold graphics and colors or subdued patterns and shades, depending on your style.

What are some different types of floral rugs?

Floral rugs are so much fun to design with because there are a myriad of different types to choose from. You can pick an oversized French Aubusson floral piece, perfect for French provincial or Rococo decor, and in rooms like the dining room. The graphic floral prints on many Romanian Bessarabian kilims give a playful and artsy, yet refined, vibe to the space you’re decorating.

What do the floral patterns in Persian carpets symbolize?

Floral patterns are a common theme in Persian carpets. Garden inspired designs are the foundation for many carpet designs, including vase rugs and the tree of life. Many of the garden designs in carpets are reminiscent of the formal walled gardens that surrounded palaces and private estates. Garden designs convey a sense of beauty, but the individual plants and trees that are depicted also have a special meaning.
