Antique Kerman Runner Rug, Persia, circa 1920 – A graceful design of slender flowering vines and palmettes in an undulating figure eight arrangement flows down the length of this elegant antique Kerman runner. The salient details are rendered in soft shades of blue with tan and ivory accents against a deep tan ground. Arabesque vine scroll borders on pale ivory frame the field. While the design comes from classic Kerman vase carpets of the seventeenth century, the coloration is soft, reserved, and eminently adaptable to to contemporary decorative needs.
