This fine antique carpet displays a lavish inset octofoil medallion surrounded by an oval pool of midnight blue ground and a heavily decorated ivory and brick-red frame that extends into the corners of the field. These elegant contrasting medallions are embellished with a dense mesh of branching vine scrolls adorned with a multitude of poly chromatic flowers. These opulent decorations are framed by formal strap work guard bands and handsome midnight blue main borders that feature flaming palmettes embraced by arcs of pendulous millefleur sprays.
