Vintage Mid Century Modern Swedish Shag Pile Rya Rug, Scandinavia, Mid 20th Century – Wonderfully abstract, colorful and textural, this charming vintage carpet from Scandinavia features strong geometric patterns with vertical bands and horizontal color blocks decorated with secondary background patterns. Abstract latticework motifs with achromatic variations create a dimensional layered effect as they cross over the multicolored background. Pebbled roundels, slanting stripes and speckled background patterns create a diversely textural surface that is enhanced by the plush Rya pile. This exquisitely crafted vintage Rya created circa 1960 features a complete spectrum of colors ranging from soft eggshell white and amber to chestnut brown, bistre and charcoal black paired with muted grays and subdued Prussian blues. This marvelous Rya features a wonderful variety of mod patterns and stripes rendered in a warm color palette that is particularly fitting for the mid-century aesthetic.
