Antique Heriz Carpet, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Early 20th Century This antique Persian Heriz carpet is an intricately patterned Heriz antique rug from edge to edge. The secondary borders feature alternating bird and floral motifs backed in red on the outer band and ivory behind the inner frame. Bracketed within, the primary stripe features densely packed stylized blooms and intertwining vines rendered in mild reds and beige on indigo. A fine tertiary stripe of interlocking pale red and blue spires completes the carpet’s boundaries and provides a gentle transition to the kaleidoscopic interior. The central field consists of an expansive and highly complex medallion that propagates outward through tree of life, cedar, and spectacular floral devices. The central coloration also radiates outward from deep regionally inspired hues to lighter complementary shades; the resultant effect perfectly balances the inner and peripheral elements of the weaving. This Antique Persian carpet grabs your attention at a glance and does not disappoint upon any degree of further examination.
