Vintage Moroccan Rug, Morocco, Mid 20th Century – This handsome vintage rug from Morocco depicts a diverse variety of ancient symbols rendered in a minimalist combination of umber set over a chic ivory-colored background. Abstract checkers arranged in disintegrating patterns decorate the upper reaches of the decorative latticework pattern while broad checkered lozenges, delicate Tree of Life motifs and abstract glyphs decorate the large-format cells that occupy the opposite end of the elaborately decorated field. Parallel bilinear motifs accentuate the strong lines that comprise the formal latticework pattern. Simple monochromatic borders rendered in dark umber complement the minimalist color scheme that is used throughout the modern composition.
