Vintage Scandinavian Rya Rug, Origin: Scandinavia, Circa: Mid-Twentieth Century – Here is a vibrant and decidedly modern vintage rug – a vintage rya rug that was woven in Scandinavia during the middle years of the twentieth century. Totally abstract in its design, this exciting composition consists of patches of various shades of red, spread throughout much like paint on a canvas. Indeed, it is a painting that this exciting, modern Scandinavian rug most resembles. Most of the piece is colored a bright shade of red: from a distance, the shades that stand out the most are the bright shades that run mostly along the sides, but which also appear in the middle. This especially vibrant patches are interred by patches of the darkest shade of red that appears in the composition, especially along the vertical, near the top of the piece. A much tighter grouping of shades appears near the center, where vague swears and rectangles jostle with one another for prominence. Energetic and exciting, this vintage Swedish rya rug from Scandinavia is a fascinating example.
