Moroccan Rug, Morocco, Mid 20th Century – Created in Morocco, this handsome vintage rug features an innately modern composition with abstract lines and a traditional latticework pattern set over a gradient field decorated with a broad spectrum of manly hues. From the variegated color segments to the contrasting outlines, this carefully composed rug features layers of detail that add to the enigmatic nature of the abstract designs, symbolic lozenges and important protection symbols that weaken nefarious glances from the evil eye. The transcendental color scheme originates in darker parts of the spectrum with kohl black details, shadowy purples, dark forest greens and bold burgundy reds. The background patterns and decorative lozenges gradually transition toward lighter hues and increasingly brighter shades of blushing mauve, ivory and sandy ecru.
