Blue Collectible Antique Tibetan Horse Cover 49794

Size: 2 ft 4 in x 4 ft (0.71 m x 1.22 m)

Breathtaking Blue Background Collectible Antique Tibetan Horse Cover, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Tibet Rug, Circa Date: 1900 – This elegant antique Tibetan rug was woven to be used as a ceremonial horse cover.  The intricate Chinese blue designs and bright red and coral colored details are beautifully juxtaposed against the cooler color tones.

A luxurious rustic blue hue saturates the two symmetrically opposed fields of this exciting antique Tibetan horse cover. Intricate floral designs in a deep navy blue fancifully decorate these two areas, and brilliant crimson and coral threads complete the edges.

The middle space, where both sides of this piece connect, is a clean gray blue with streaks of ivory. This central open area creates a feeling as if we are looking at a cloudless sky on a summer day. This same area also offers a lighter shade backdrop, against which, the other richer and bolder colors can really stand out. Without this lighter color, the piece would blend into one dark piece and most of the artistic impact would be lost.

Surrounding this entire antique Tibetan horse cover, we see a magnificently rendered and meandering floral vine scroll border. The floral design of this border adds a satisfying touch of elegance and artistic brilliance. This border also provides the perfect compliment to the inner design and as a result, it acts like a frame on painting – it draws you in, but does not detract or take away from the essence of the piece, it just enhances its already present artistic beauty.

The red and coral  threads in the center are the most striking or eye catching elements. Though at first glance, they may seem out of place, upon closer examination, these intricate borders add an irreplaceable charm to the entire piece. This work displays luxurious and sophisticated artistry, testifying to the mastery of its creator and promising delight and fascination for generations to come.

While antique horse covers tend to be quite collectible in nature, they are also beautiful decorative rugs as well. Some people find cleaver ways to incorporate them into their interiors. Some people use them as area rugs while others may chose to display them as antique tapestry rugs.

The bottom line is that there is no wrong way to use, display or live with this magnificent work of textile art.
