Antique Persian Malayer Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: Turn of the Twentieth Century – Here is a dynamic and intriguing antique Oriental rug – an antique Malayer rug that was woven in Persia around the turn of the twentieth century. Colorful and bold, this antique Persian Malayer carpet features large, stylized floral details that appear throughout the field and the borders. The borders are especially interesting: colored an especially pale shade of gold, the borders are decorated by a procession of lovely floral details. Here, large pink blossoms are supported by leafy green details. Between each flower of this antique Persian rug is a different detail element: a small green tree, also bedecked with pink. All of this floral embellishment sets the stage beautifully for the field, which is practically filling over with sumptuous flowers and view scrolls. Blossoms of bright green, blue, red and other shades appear, each one boisterous and assertive. The complex network of thick vine scrolls that appear throughout add further depth to this already intricate composition.
