Beautiful Room Size Antique Persian Mahal Sultanabad Rug, Country Of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – An allover design of curling vine scrolls with leafy, wing-like fronds repeats in staggered symmetry across the field of this stunning antique Persian Mahal Sultanabad rug. The palette of these elements is soft, using shades pf gold, pale blue, and ivory, but its effect is none the less dramatic against the blue-black ground. The border system, of this antique rug, with its angular vine scrolls offers a nice contrast to the field with its predominantly gold coloration and its much finer, smaller scale.
