Antique Persian Tribal Qashqai Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1900 – Like many other traditional antique Persian rugs, powerful contrasting forms define the majority of the visual action in this tribal Qashqai rug. An inky black hue stands as the strongest contrasting tone against the richer and more vibrant golds and oranges composed around the rug’s perimeter. Several beautiful borders frame each other, their variations in size and color creating a chaotic effect that feels organic amidst the presence of the otherwise rigid framework and structures. At the center of the antique rug, within a vibrant orange field is a long hexagon, its two points stretching up and down to meet the edges of the field. Tiny floral elements and petal motifs abound within the forms of the borders and primary shapes.
