The coffered field features a charming stepped-lozenge medallion decorated with compound outlines and secondary small-scale lozenges. Repeating boteh motifs executed in alternating colors decorate the warm brick-colored field. Radiant poly-chrome inner borders and zigzagging running water motifs with stepped outlines frame the central compartment along with a series of angular crenelated fences, which feature contrasting outlines that enunciate the delightful counter-change pattern. Decorative end pieces adorned with textural flat-weave patterns complete the traditional composition of this exquisite antique Persian Sofreh.
