The classic East Caucasian stylized arch or mihrab surmounts a field of diagonal stripes and tiny pulsating squares. The dynamic ‘dragon’ border with its enclosing minor borders of rosettes and z-forms repeats the coloration of the field, while providing strong contrasts of design. Rarely do such Caucasian prayer rugs attain the forceful impact of this piece.
