Antique French Oversize Savonnerie Rug, Country of Origin: France, Circa Date: 1900 – True to the vibrant style of many antique French Savonnerie rugs, this oversize Savonnerie Rug conveys a bright sense of purpose in the realistic depictions of petals and flowers. A gentle and subdued border frames around the French rug, resulting in a delicate transition from the outside of the piece to the inside. Sage green fronds and leaves dance around the colorful flowers, which are presented in pink, orange and brown. All of the figures are presented before an inky black background, the color adding an impressive degree of contrast that only allows the bright colors to shine even brighter and fuller.
