Beautiful Antique Dragon Soumak Caucasian Rug 48925, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Caucasian Rug, Circa Date: 1900 – Bold lines and sharp angles fill the vibrant red space of this antique Caucasian rug, conveying a dynamic energy. Tribal rug patterning stands out through the use of contrasting colors, warm hues that are only strengthened by the multitude of geometric figures arrayed within. Layers of angular shapes in this beautiful antique Soumak rug create a totemic structure, and many of the small shapes represent a variety of flowers or animals. Crowded around the central design, several banners are posted, built in yellow, blue, black and red hues. A set of borders encloses this decorative area. Their spans alternate blue and yellow, small circular blossoms flanking a band of larger octagonal medallions.
