Antique Caucasian Seychour Rug, Country of Origin: Caucasian, Circa Date: Early 20th Century– A vivid collection of shapes melding and flowing into one another, this Seychour rug is a study in bright reds with greens and blues for contrast. The top showcases several large roses along with smaller flowers like poppies, their forms loose against a background of light green and blue hues that almost swirl together organically on this Caucasian piece. An arching border rises and dips through the center, shaded with graduated red tones and edged with black to create a stark appearance. A shifting field of blues backs the lower portion of the rug, creating a watery backdrop for pointed red and orange blossoms and leaves.
