Vintage Scandinavian Takashi Naraha Rug by Ege, Country of Origin: Scandinavia, Circa Date: Mid-20th Century – Here is a dynamic and beautifully composed vintage carpet – a beautiful mid-century piece, designed by the Japanese artist Takashi Naraha and produced by Ege in Scandinavia. A comely carpet featuring an exciting mid-century design, this carpet is an excellent example of the free treatment of form and experimentation that characterized the artistic developments of the middle twentieth century. The entire composition consists of a series of abstract, vaguely geometric swaths of color set against a pale, cornflower blue background. The primary, central figure of the composition is a large red swath, touched with a dash of grey and bright green. This highly abstract presentation disintegrated slightly on the vertical, almost disappearing into the blue background. Dynamic and intriguing, this mid-century carpet is an excellent example of the power of abstraction.
