Swedish Rug, Scandinavia, Mid 20th Century – Charming and carefully composed, this vintage Swedish Scandinavian rug created by master weaver and design legend Marta Maas Fjetterstrom features a simple grid with subdivided compartments that are decorated with an endless variety of colorful motifs rendered in contrasting colors. Garden rows, paths and colorful flowers executed in a delicate combination of wheat brown, maize yellow, green and pure Prussian blue create a charming allover pattern. Subtle red details and pure whites embellish the compartmental field and augment the delicate color scheme. Monochromatic compartments, subdivided cells and colorful floral decorations are combined to create an outstanding allover pattern. Sliced borders decorated with alternating patterns continue the compartmental composition while reciprocating end pieces incorporating a quirky flower and vine scroll pattern with strong pillars, striped crossbars and delicate monkey wrench flowers enclose the carefully decorated field.
