Created circa 1950, this flat-woven Rolakan features an outstanding allover pattern with graceful lines and willowy branches constructed with subtle right angles.

Beautiful Vintage Swedish Rug, Origin: Scandinavia, Circa: Mid 20th Century – Rendered with a calming combination of muted ecru, celadon, buttermilk yellows and blue-gray, this posh small rug embodies the cool, sophisticated, seaside spirit found in many traditional carpets and textiles from Sweden. The willowy fronds feature a beautiful gradation with textural stripes and variegated details that Scandinavian rug weavers accomplish so well. The willowy branches are embellished with galactic star clusters that create a charming secondary pattern set over the neutral oatmeal-colored background. Starry cruciform motifs cascade across the non-directional field enhancing the fluidity and gentle motion of the trailing branches, which are constructed with subtle right angles that carefully conform to each curve. This stylish Rolakan, signed by Britta Randahl-Ljusterdal, was created circa 1950 and features impressive curvilinear patterns constructed using angular flat-woven techniques that defy their natural geometric inclinations.
