Vintage Rag Rug, Sweden, Mid 20th Century — This rag rug brings stormy, stony fields to mind as it draws attention in a simple and straightforward way. The deep gray color present throughout the rug is broken up by black lines running horizontally. White lines add contrast beneath the black ones, and the white lines are followed further by other ones, chosen in bright hues to add an even greater degree of depth and contrast for the rest of the piece. Soft golds, bright reds and blushing pinks complete the simple stripes at varying intervals, breaking up the gray landscape with their vibrant presence.
