Vintage Mid Century Modern Geometric Flat Woven Swedish Kilim Rug 45507
This stately Scandinavian kilim features a marvelous tile pattern rendered in a chic combination of delicate platinum grays, warm jonquil yellows and walnut brown.
Swedish Rug, Scandinavia, Mid 20th Century – Created by Marta Maas-Fjetterstrom circa 1950, this charming flat-woven kilim from Sweden features a fantastic tile pattern with interlocking turret motifs and strong right angles. This sophisticated Swedish kilim is modern, precisely composed and carefully executed with straight edges, perpendicular intersections and abrupt right angles that produce crisp corners. Complex checkerboard patterns with well-defined elements and uncompromising geometry are used to create a masterful allover pattern comprised of basic shapes with clear-cut angles. Walnut brown flower-like motifs with turreted niches are offset sharply by the papyrus-colored field and softly colored checkers. Uniquely modern, this Swedish kilim created in the mid-20th century features strong geometric elements rendered in a stately selection of steely platinum grays paired with warm yellows, bold browns and soft neutrals.
