Beautiful Antique Turkish Angora Oushak Prayer Design Rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: 1900 – This beautiful Angora wool antique Oushak rug features the iconic prayer rug design and was woven in rich, warm and decorative “happy” colors that remind the viewer of gold under the heat of the summer sun. Several intricate borders frame the body of the prayer design motif, with each frame featuring chains of tangerine and scarlet daisy and orchid blossoms. Within the focal area of this antique Turkish prayer rug, an allover repeating pattern fills up the negative space, drawing the attention of the viewer with accents of teal in the background of each carmine flower. The large marigold kneeling area is framed by Aegean blue and deep burgundy blooms, which are designed to leave the viewer with a lingering sense of warmth. The angora wool offers a luxurious silk like texture and feel which helps to elevate this antique rug to the luxurious stature of a beautiful work of Islamic inspired art.
