Antique Turkish Sivas Rug, Country Of Origin: Turkey, Circa date: 1900 – Stunning intricacy and magnificent artistry define this breathtaking Turkish rug. Woven in the early years of the twentieth century at the apex of the region’s artistic production, the painstaking detail and stunning symmetrical intricacy form a work of art. Rendered in shades of chocolate, cream, cinnamon, and copper, the piece begins with a narrow border of deep cocoa, giving way to a delicately patterned white border. This surrounds a rich frame bearing delicate renderings of finely detailed blossoms. A stunning inner border follows, bearing a pattern of the traditional lotus and peony, both motifs rich in cultural significance. A cream and flower-adorned copper design follows, giving way to the extraordinarily intricate heart of this beautiful piece. A mellow cream base provides a rich contrast to the breathtaking intricacy of the pattern. Delicately interlocked motifs of chrysanthemums, peonies, diamonds, and lilies spread beautifully across the antique rug, so rich with fine detail that the magnificent symmetrical genius is at first overshadowed. Stunning symmetry, curve-linear geometry, and extraordinary richness of hue and detail ensure a sophisticated artistic statement.
