A Magnificent Tribal Herati Allover Design Antique Persian Qashqai Rug, Persia, Circa 1900 – Woven by members of the Gashgai tribal confederation, this classis rug features many of the group’s design trademarks, including a latch hook lozenge, intricately decorated guard bands and woven edges with a narrow striped format. The central lozenge features a dramatically dark field decorated with Herati motifs arranged in a tight Mina Khani-style pattern, which are bordered by a series of latch hooks that create a counterchange pattern against the ivory spandrels.
