Antique Northwest Persian Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – Here is a compelling and intriguing antique rug – an antique Northwest Persian carpet, woven in Persia during the final years of the nineteenth century. Featuring a dynamic geometric design, this Northwest Persian carpet is an excellent example of the tribal style of weaving practiced by the people of the Transcaucasia region of Northwestern Iran. A series of borders sets the stage for a beautiful and highly traditional composition. Geometric figures populate the primary border, arrayed in a traditional pallet of red, blue and green. Within the long and narrow field, a series of large geometric figures are stacked one on top of the other. In the negative space left between these large figures, smaller geometric figures appear. These are colored differently throughout, creating an intriguing contrast with the larger figures. The overall impression of the composition is one of a culturally important work of art, resplendent with the hallmarks of authenticity.
This is a beautiful example in excellent condition so it could take daily traffic and use with no problem.
