Antique Caucasian Kuba Rug, Country of Origin: Caucasia, Circa Date: 1900– A column of ornaments stretches across the centerpiece of this antique Caucasian rug, rendered in warm tones of yellow and red with black and green counterpoints. The medallions of this antique Caucasian Kuba rug rest against a yellow field, alternating in color between green, red and blue, each bounded by black trim studded with tiny colorful shapes. Additional figures sprawl alongside these, the largest as fanciful, swirling forms. Vibrant triangles line the inner border, a black strip encasing a series of simple flowers. The widest of the borders, a white band crowded with a twining braid, rests between a pair of those black bars. Another outer border of interlocked red and blue completes the antique rug.
