Antique Persian Heriz Serapi Carpet, Origin: Persia, Circa: Turn of the 20th Century – Here is a beautiful and exceptionally woven antique rug – an antique Heriz Serapi carpet that was woven in Persia around the turn of the twentieth century. An exemplary work, this antique Persian carpet beautifully showcases some of the finer points of the Heriz Serapi style. From its borders to its corner pieces to its central medallion, this fine Persian carpet boasts many of the most desirable elements of the style; it also boasts a highly representative color pallet. The primary borders a dark shade of brown, and decorated with a simple sloping vine scroll design. The corner pieces, which are colored ivory, make the transition from border to field seamless and smooth. The fiery red floral elements nestled in each corner piece tie in beautifully with the crimson field, across which ivory and light blue detail elements dance. In the center, a classical octofoil medallion stands proudly, beautifully incorporating the pallet from the rest of the composition.
It is in excellent condition, even pile and no major repairs or restoration. It could certainly handle daily use and traffic. It must have been take very good care of which why it is in such great condition (even after 100 plus years). An excellent example, this antique Heriz rug is an especially appealing antique Persian rug.
