Beautiful Tribal Design Antique Persian Bidjar Oriental Gallery Runner Rug, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rugs, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – With its gorgeous repeating pattern and skillful use of colors to establish strong contrast, this antique Persian Bidjar rug, an antique long and narrow gallery size rug, is a sight to behold. Though the color palette itself is relatively limited, the hues present are used to great effect to highlight a sultry and smoky environment. Three primary borders surrounded the center of the antique rug runner, each of them the same thickness but displayed in different shades of bronze and yellow. In addition to differences in background, each of the borders are presented in different ways when it comes to their foregrounds. One border features diagonally crossing lines housing mandalas and petals, while another depicts snaking vines and loosened leafs. At the center of the rug, the viewer’s eyes move down a Stygian night-scape, outlined into hexagonal shapes by beautiful golden threading.
