Antique Persian Bakshaish Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa date: Late 19th Century – Full of tribal charm, this traditional antique Persian Bakshaish carpet is decorated with geometric animals, Tree of Life symbols, human figures and all the mainstays of life for semi-nomadic people. With influences from Northwest Persia, Anatolia and the Caucasus, this unique antique rug uses a large variety of important symbols, including three auspicious groupings of the legendary wolf’s mouth symbol used to protect a herder’s cattle and livestock from predatory wolf attacks.
