Antique Chinese Rug, Origin: China, Circa: 1930 – Drawn in an elegant Eastern style, this antique Chinese rug features a beautiful, novel assortment of fretwork trellises superimposed over a network of spiraling tendrils. The muted ecru field is emblazoned with a subtly colored shou symbol medallion that is surrounded by delicately colored botanical motifs and decorative blossoms. Spiraling clouds and exotic vapor trails are quietly worked into the inconspicuous light-on-dark patterns that meander across the stately ground. The posh ecru field is framed by monochromatic guard-bands and brightly colored main borders that feature fretwork trellises, bold bi-color leaflets and carefully outlined flowers that break away from the ecru palette of the field. Clear blue accents separate the borders from the harmonious composition while buff trellises and salmon accents provide coordinating elements that give the composition an elegant art deco visage.
