Gorgeous Green Geometric Modern Silk Rug, Country of Origin: Modern Indian, Circa date: Modern – If you are not fond of red or blue in your rugs, or you wish to have less of these colors and more of something else, this modern silk area rug fits the bill. It incorporates several shades of green in its distinctly Indian rug pattern of “lily pads” and crosses. The soft touches of rusts and neutrals are kept to a minimum and are used instead as the accent color rather than the main attraction. The very center of this silk rug is banded in hues of green, soft yellow and cream as the backdrop, while the geometric design, that was inspired from antique rugs, leaps forward in shades of dark to light green.

The large central pattern is repeated in miniature in three of the bands surrounding the central part of the modern rug from India. While the geometric shape remains the same color as the larger pattern in the middle of the modern rug, the background of each of these smaller shapes is a different color entirely. It creates a sort of checkered border that stands out from the rest of the rug’s design. Narrower bands comprised of stripes of greens, blues, and indigo separate the bands that copy the central motif.

The intricate details in these surrounding bands are worth viewing closer. An online picture does not do this rug justice, and magnifying the picture onscreen doesn’t help you appreciate the beautiful details. It is almost as if it were hand embroidered because each detail is so perfectly crafted woven to look like needlework. You really do need to see this rug in person.

This modern room size silk pile area rug was woven expertly. Its modern rug colors are juxtaposed against the antique design which is likely to please even the most discriminating of tastes. It looks best against a darker surrounding floor or over a contrasting rug to really push the greens forward.
