It is remarkable that the field and border alike are all composed from the same basic motif – the Boteh or Paisley – arrayed as a staggered allover design in the field, and as an affronted longitudinal pattern in the border. This gives the small size paisley design antique Persian Khorassan rug a remarkable homogeneity or unity while the different types of repetition and rhythm provide dynamic variation.
