Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug, Country of Origin: Caucasus, Circa Date: Early 20th Century– This striking blue and red Caucasian Kazak rug features vibrant colors and carefully exact stitches that delineate the designs. The piece is mostly symmetrical about both axes, excepting some reversed figures that stand out creatively. A navy field backs the central, rectangular component of the rug, which serves as a banner full of five large diamonds patterned in the bright red and blue distinctive of the rug style. These vertically stacked shapes are flanked with festive stylized forms reminiscent of snowflakes. A broad band surrounds the center, showcasing a jagged pattern of alternating colors filled with geometric figures. Two smaller decorative red borders complete this remarkable antique Caucasian Kazak rug.
