Set of Nine Antique Kashan Persian Rugs, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – Here are an extraordinary set of antique Oriental rugs – a set of nine antique Kashan carpets from Persia. These lovely carpets are characterized by a shared floral design, the arrangement and presentation of which vary based on each respective carpet’s format. Consisting of five rectangular and four square carpets, this charming set represents a unique achievement in Persian rug weaving. In four of the five rectangular rugs, the pattern is precisely the same; the fifth features a subtle variant on that pattern. Viewed vertically, the four rectangular pieces that share the same design feature a horizontal shape that rests just above a square shape. Throughout, the carpets are a lovely shade of green, and populated by bunches of richly detailed flowers. At the heart of each is a gorgeous and elegant bunching of red flowers. This same design stands in the center of each square carpet, and a glorious set of three across grace the rectangular carpet with the unique design. In each of these lovely antique Persian carpets, the elegance of the drawing and the sophistication of the design elevates the compositions, infusing each with a deep sense of timeless sophistication.
