Antique Bokara Rug, Caucasian, Early 20th Century – Beautifully colored and decorated, this superb antique Bokara main rug from the Caucasus features a splendid repeating pattern with major Teke guls and minor ram’s horn guls that are rendered in a stunning selection of traditional colors, including warm terracotta oranges, crisp whites, deep midnight blues and saturated crimson red. The spectacular main borders enliven the intricate composition and add a personal touch to the archetypal pattern. Octagonal medallions surrounded by radiant burdock extensions fill the main borders and complement the colorful ram’s horns that are featured in the surrounding guard bands. Elaborate end pieces that depict a complex variety of poly chromatic ladders and ram’s horn pillars complete the richly detailed and deeply symbolic composition of this antique Caucasian Bokara rug.
