Beautiful Red Background Antique Persian Mahal Sultanabad Rug, Country Of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1900 – A repeating, symmetrical pattern of flowers and angular spirals is centered upon a vivid red background in this beautiful antique Persian Mahal rug. Cool blues and pale greens accent the white design with neatly outlined petals and leaves, all arranged into nesting helix forms. Three slim borders of this antique Persian rug frame the main rectangular pattern, the first a zigzag of red over faint blue and yellow, which anchors the primary design. A wide strip of blue forms the next border, containing large, ornate floral accents in bright red, yellow, blue and white, all connected by golden lines. Three additional thin bands form the outer edge, their pale shades backed with a golden hue.
