Antique Persian Kilim, Origin: Persia, Circa: Early 20th Century – Minimalist in its manner, this splendid antique Persian kilim features a unique convergence of traditional tribal patterns and graphic accents. The stark wheat-colored field depicts an isolated arthropodal medallion with vibrant inset lozenges linked by colorfully striped barber-pole rods. Bold black and tan sawtooth appendages reminiscent of zebra stripes create a graphic border the travels the length of the field. In a traditional fashion, the colorful striped end pieces feature partial latch hook lozenges flanked by intricately striped borders and interlocking Y-motifs with angular contours. This phenomenal antique Persian kilim adroitly combines sophisticated neutrals in the stark field and clear saturated colors in the symbolically rich end pieces.
