Modern Ivory and Blue Geometric Allover Oushak Rug, Country of Origin: Central Asia, Circa Date: Modern
The ground is a warm oatmeal wool that opens into near-cream across much of the field. Over it runs an allover lattice of small hooked diamonds worked in a soft grey, taupe in the lighter passages and tipping to cool slate where the knots run deepest. Against so much sand that grey carries blue at a distance.
The border sits a shade paler and warmer than the field and spaces its figures widely: curled hooks down the sides, broader palmettes across the ends, rosettes at the corners. Both zones draw on one grey, which keeps a densely geometric rug from reading as busy. Nothing in the palette is saturated.
At 9 ft x 9 ft 5 in this is a near-square piece that will hold a square room — a study, a library, a wide landing — without the long axis a rectangle imposes. Price is available on request, and a custom rug can be knotted in these proportions at whatever size a room takes.
