The magenta field is complemented by a deep blue border. The details of the border and the field alike stand out in this spectacular antique Esfahan Persian rug because of the use of golden yellows and ivory amidst a range of soft greens, reds, oranges, and purples. A masterpiece of historical as well as artistic importance, this lovely carpet is every bit as decorative today as it was when the Safavid Shahs commissioned it over three hundred yeas ago.
