Antique Turkish Oushak Rug, Country of origin: Turkey, Circa Date: 1900 – Large-scale palmettes and medallions of classical Turkish derivation repeat in shades of salmon and mauve as a staggered allover design across the champagne field of this grand antique Oushak. Smaller stylized elements fill the intervening spaces. Narrow, more delicate vinescroll borders offer a contrast in scale and texture to the monumentality of the field, while retaining its palette to achieve an overall decorative unity. In the classic Oushak tradition, the delicacy of the color is beautifully accented by the soft, extremely lustrous pile.
