Soft Color and Quite Decorative Antique Chinese Carpet, Country Of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1920 — Like many other traditional antique Chinese carpets, this one uses a central color scheme to create a visually pleasing vista. Through the use of this unified color, the work is allowed to become even more grounding and soothing, allowing the figures and forms to represent the craftsmanship. A soft, coffee brown border creates an earthen scene, and the presence of the zig-zagging shapes within its form brings to mind regal images of palaces and courtyards. A collection of leaves and flowers are strewn at the center of the carpet, where the colors are the lightest and most ethereal.
